Nurse Aide 1 training includes basic nursing skills required to provide safe, competent personal care for individuals with an emphasis on the following:
- Person-centered care
- Aging process
- Communication
- Safety/emergencies
- Infection prevention
- Legal and ethical issues
- Measurements
- Elimination
- Nutrition
- Basic restorative care and rehabilitation
- Dementia
- Mental health
- End-of-life care
The 124-contact-hour class consists of theory and a clinical experience in the hospital or long-term care facility. The first 80 hours classroom consist of lecture and lab to prepare students to face the workforce. The last 44 hours consists of Written and Skills, Final Exam, a clinical prep and mock competency.
